Phuket's deep-sea port in Muang district. Phuket Deep Sea Port says 200,000-300,000 cruise passengers disembark at the Vichit deep-sea port each year. The Treasury Department has awarded a 30-year concession to Phuket Deep Sea Port Co to manage the deep-sea port in Phuket's Vichit subdistrict, while the concessionaire aims for an annual 10% increase in cruise passengers stepping ashore at the port. Wallop Pongluengdhama, general manager of Phuket Deep Sea Port, said 200,000-300,000 cruise passengers come ashore at the Vichit deep-sea port each year, 99% of whom are foreigners, mostly from China, Malaysia and Singapore. The company plans to develop the deep-sea port into a home port concept, offering facilities similar to those found at Suvarnabhumi airport, Mr Wallop said.
